Holiday 2019 Business Prep Challenge Week 1 Emails
Oct 29, 2019Week 1, Day 1:
Good morning, and welcome to the first week of the Holiday 2019 Business Prep Challenge!
This week, our focus will be on Email Marketing tips and how to get ALL of your craft show shoppers and online followers onto your very own email list.
Today's mini challenge:
Today, I'd like for you to gather all of those email addresses you've been gathering over the years (yes, I mean those business cards, notebook pages, lists, maybe even a list from your personal or business email accounts) and get them all into one place.
I personally like to use Google Sheets (the Google version of Excel) to keep my list all in one place, but you can use Excel if you prefer. I created a master sheet (it's not real exciting, but it's what I use!) to share, so if you want to use one, grab it and make a copy to save and use in your Google Drive. You can also just see the column names I use and enter those into Excel if you are more comfortable with that.
I'll be popping into the group tonight for a little Q&A session, but if you have any questions ahead of time, please feel free to email me back or post in the group (because surely others have the same question!). Make sure you post your success when you have started to gather up that list, and if you ALREADY have your list all in one place, then please post to share how you do it so that we can celebrate you!
Tomorrow, I will be sharing with you a list of the email service providers I've looked into with their costs, pros/cons, and which one(s) I use and have used.
Thank you so much for being here: I am so excited to see how much we can accomplish together!
Week 1, Day 2:
Good morning: you have made it to day 2 of the challenge!
If you have been following along, yesterday's task was to gather up ALL of the emails that you've been collecting and enter them into one place.
In case you missed it, you can grab the free master sheet I created and use for my list:

Here's the Day 2 Email Marketing Challenge:
Brainstorm a creative name for the members of your email list!
What do I mean by that?
As I mentioned in my FB live video last night, people LOVE to feel like they are being welcomed into your inner circle. They are interested in you and your business, and you want to give them as many opportunities as possible to fall in love with you and your brand. THIS is how you build your list!
Think about it this way: would YOU rather be on someone's email list, or be invited to be a member of their VIP Club? How about an exclusive membership to their Insiders Community?
Take a few minutes to go through the emails you receive from some of your favorite businesses and see how they are addressing people. Visit some popular websites in your industry and see what words they are using in their email signup popups or links.
We can work together on this! Pop into the group and share your ideas for a "personality" for your VIP list and lets get our hive mind in gear. See you in the group!
Week 1, Day 3:
Good morning!
It's Day 3 of the Email Marketing week of the challenge, and I am honored that you are hanging in here with me.
So far, you have collected up all of the emails that have been laying around and entered them into a spreadsheet or Google sheet (or are planning to!). If you haven't already come up with a name/title for your email list, start percolating on that idea (hint: make it something someone feels like its a privilege to be a part of...because it IS! You are sharing valuable information in your regular email campaigns!)
Yesterday in the group, I saw a LOT of questions and comments about collecting emails in Etsy, including that many do not collect customer emails because they don't sell anywhere other than Etsy. Today, I am sharing with you a little guide I wrote on my top 3 tips for using Etsy as a marketing tool! These are 3 easy tasks that you can do to start growing your list, bringing people over from your shop and into your exclusive customer experience.
Today's task: If you have an Etsy shop and an existing email provider, I would like you to take one of your listings and implement the tips in the guide. Feel free to post the link to your listing in the group so that we can all take a look!
RSVP For The Live Q&A TONIGHT 10/2 At 9pm EST
I'm going to pop on again tonight for a live Q&A session to answer any questions you may have so far. I'll also be talking about HOW to collect emails in your booth/at shows, how to collect emails from Etsy, and how you can invite your social media followers to join your list.
***If you either do not have an Etsy shop or do not have an email provider, DO NOT WORRY! Tomorrow's task will be to review email providers and make a choice. I will be sending you a guide with hilights/price points for 4 different email providers (there are MANY, but these are the 4 that I like the best/have used). This is a Thurdsay task because it will take a couple of days for you to look through and decide on!***
Week 1, Day 4:
Good morning and welcome to Day 4! You have made it through the week of bite sized challenges, and today I'm offering up a little bit of a bigger challenge. There have been a lot of questions about choosing an email service provider, so I have put together a mini guide book with some quick facts about a few different providers and what I liked (and maybe did not like) about each one.
Day 4 task: Take a look at these different email service providers and see if there is one that catches your interest!

If you already have an email service provider that you like, that's awesome! Please feel free to post in the group who you use and what you love (or maybe don't love) about it. There are many, many providers out there, so what I have in this guide is not by any means an exhaustive list!
For my bel monili jewelry business, I have recently made the switch over to Flodesk after some trials and comparisons. Flodesk is a new US-based email service provider, and in their beta launch they are offering 50% off of their monthly fee for anyone who signs up with a referral. They just launched their Shopify integration, with many more integrations coming down the pike as they grow.
For me, the big bonus about this was that your monthly fee will remain the same for life, regardless of how big your email list grows or how many emails you send. The great majority of other email service providers offer tiered pricing based on either your number of subscribers or number of emails you send per month. You can click the link below to sign up for your trial (this is my referral link where you will get 50% off) OR you can enter code BELMONILI at checkout when you sign up.

Have a great day, and I'll see you in the group!
Week 1, Day 5:
Hey there, Happy Friday!
I am here to send over a virtual high-five, because YOU DID IT! You have made it through the first week of the challenge, walking through the first steps to get your customer email list built and ready to roll.
Hopefully you were able to get started on at least a few of the tasks, and if you got them ALL done, well then a double hand high five for you
Today's Task: If you are heading out to a craft or vendor show this weekend, don't forget to put those signup sheets out and ASK for emails!
Invite your customers to join in your list with confidence: you have valuable information, stories, and products to share with them. Let us know in the group where your show is and how it went!
Remember, you do not have to have a website, or even an Etsy shop, to start building your email list. As long as you are selling SOMEWHERE, your email list is what is going to help bring your customers to YOU, which is how you will start to see growth in revenue and followers.

Next week we will be ALL ABOUT social media! Each day we will touch on overviews of Facebook, Instagram, Instagram Stories, and Pinterest (Pinterest is actually a search engine, but for the sake of ease I'm including it in this week coming up).
See you in the group!
